Knots, affairs and adieus – Aishwarya and Abhishek tied the knot in the biggest wedding of the year. But, one big alliance which people thought would surely make it to the altar broke to pieces in an unexpected manner. Shahid and Kareena's love tale ended but not before another one took off. Kareena found a lover in Saif Ali Khan who incidentally had broken off with Italian girlfriend Rosa just a few weeks back. It looked like a typical case of two forlorn hearts finding solace in each other.
A pair which got engaged and even had a wedding date fixed but only in the media's imagination was that of Rani Mukherjee and Aditya Chopra. The news began doing the rounds just after Aish- Abhi wedding. However, the rumour mills soon broke down and the two are still very much single.
Then there was Deepika Padukone who swung from one pole to other – Ranbir to MS Dhoni and then Yuvraj. With whom did she finally land up, even we would not know.
Two 'game – glamour' alliances also finally broke off. Yuvraj Singh broke off with Kim Sharma and then Isha Sharvani and Zaheer Khan also gave into the pressures of stardom. Kelly Dorjee and Lara Dutta also broke off an eight year old affair.
However, one relationship which survived the doldrums was that of Bipasha and John. Speculations never left the couple alone, especially after pictures of Bipasha cosing up with football star Christiano Ronaldo were all over the place. But as the two claim, they are still going strong.
The latest star couple to join the list is none other than the beautiful duo of Ranbir and Sonam. The two came close on the sets of Black and then Saawariya. The latest is that the two are more than just friends and are a couple.
The Newbies - Bollywood did not get a lot of new faces this year but a few star kids entered the glamour scene. Anil Kapoor's daughter and Rishi and Neetu Kapoor's son Ranbir debuted in Sanjay Leeta Bansali's Saawariya. The other starlet who got her name registered was Deepika Padukone whose very first film 'OSO' became a super hit (apart from the SRK formula).
A sporty affair - Sports based films dominated the scene in 2007 with five films - Tara rum pum Pum, Chak De, Chaiin Kulii kii Maiin Kulii, Say Salaam India and Dan Dana Dan Goal hitting the screens.
This is what Bollywood looked like this year. Summing it up, Akshay Kumar can be termed as the ‘main lead’ of 2007 while Katrina Kaif delivered the maximum hits, even if she had nothing significant to do in most of the films. Along with the box office, there were break – ups and fresh dalliances, love - hate relationships and also quite a few hotshots and sizzling rumours plus a whole lot of controversies. In totality, the world of showbiz stood true to its name, i.e. Entertainment.
