Controversies:

1. Big and the King - The tussle between Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan increased further with SRK taking over the KBC hot seat. It gathered more lime light when Amitabh did not invite Shah Rukh for son Abhishek's wedding.
2. Race to the Oscars -Another hot battle brew up between Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Bhawna Talwar over Eklavya's selection for the Oscars. Eklavya did not receive both critical and commercial appreciation but was still selected over Dharm, which was hugely appreciated by the critics. Bhawna fought a fierce battle but ultimately Eklavya had it's way and finally went for the Oscars.

3. Miss Goody 'Shetty' - Shilpa Shetty hit the headlines when she participated in Celebrity Big Brother. She was allegedly 'racially abused' by one of the contestants, Jade Goody. Her 'trauma' found sympathy among Brit – Indians and it culminated into victory for Shilpa. The lass won the show along with innumerable endorsements and also a few international projects.
4. 'Kiss' ing trouble - One of the biggest controversies that stayed in the headlines for longer than required was the Richard Gere – Shilpa Shetty kiss row. A loving embrace and a peck on Shilpa's cheek in a public function got both Gere and Shilpa into big trouble. The moral brigade went after Shilpa hammer and tong while Gere must have sworn by then never to hold a girl in public. The matter even reached the court with a section complaining against Shilpa for obscenity and indecency.
5. Say Om - Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om also stayed in controversy owing to a scene allegedly defaming yesteryear's actor Manoj Kumar.
6. Shaant Saawariya - Bhansali and Farah began a cold war over certain comments made by Farah about former’s mother. It kept on stretching and both of them went on to release their mega-budget films on the same day. The two are still at loggerheads, however, Farah won a part of the battle as OSO emerged to be a super-hit while Saawariya a super – dud.
7. Football wonders - Bipasha went to Lisbon to announce the new seven wonders and found Ronaldo. And if that was not enough, the two danced together and even got too close for ‘John’s’ comfort.
8. Maya's naach - Madhuri Dixit’s comeback film Aaja Nachle landed into controversy on the very first day of its release. Mayawati raised objection over a line talking about a certain community featuring in the title song (why this wait till the release of the film?).
