NITHARI CANNABILISM: The most horrific incident this year were the Nithari killings in Noida in which more than 30 children were killed. Several parts of the dead bodies were also found in mutilated forms in the D-51 house. However the main accused Moninder Singh Pandher got a clean chit from CBI in most of the cases and was only charged of raping and murdering his female maid. His servant Surendra Koli allegedly was in a habit to have sex with the dead bodies of children. He confessed to the investigative team that he not only killed 17 children but also ate the organs of the dead bodies of the children. It is very much possible as the torsos of the bodies were not found. The matter is under the CBI special court in Ghaziabad.
BLASTS: During the year, the Nation witnessed a row of blasts causing some major losses to the country in form of infrastructure as well as of innocent lives. The series began from with the Samjhauta Express train blast. Just before midnight, a bomb kept inside the suitcase exploded and killed around 66 people. Later a new face of terror also evolved this year when mosques were targeted largely one after the other and a number of innocent people lost their lives. The row then lead to the Mecca Masjid blast followed by a blast at the holy shrine of Ajmer Sharif. The nation also witnessed twin blasts in Hyderabad.

SHOOTOUT IN GURGAON SCHOOL: Fourteen-year-old Abhishek Tyagi, a student of class eight was shot dead by two of his classmates - Aakash and Vikas Yadav in the premises of Euro International School, Gurgaon on December 11. Police said the two students, sons of property dealers, are believed to have fired five bullets from a licensed pistol at Abhishek Tyagi following a quarrel in the corridor.
MAJOR JAIL BREAK IN CHHATTISGARH: In a daredevil act of jail breaking at the Dantewada jail in Chhattisgarh, 299 inmates including 105 Maoists managed to escape. They took along with them one Insas rifle, two muskets and two 303 rifles. The prisoners apparently had pre-planned the escape, and implemented their action plan on December 17.
BABUBHAI KATARA in HUMAN TRAFFICKING: Corruption in the Indian political system was exposed with the arrest of BJP Member of Parliament, Babubhai Katara on charges of human trafficking. Babubhai Katara was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on April 18, when he was about to board a flight to Toronto. He allegedly used his family's diplomatic passports to smuggle a woman Paramjeet Kaur on his wife Sharadaben Katara’s passport and her 16-year-old son Amarjeet on his younger son Rajesh’s passport. Right now, he is in Tihar jail facing trial in a Delhi court for the same. Both, Lower Court and Delhi High Court refused to grant him bail even after regular appeals.
116 KILLED IN BLUELINE BUS RAMPAGE: The Blueline buses, a private run bus broke the record of reckless driving in the year 2007. It crushed 116 pedestrians till December 27. Chief minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit had planned to phase out the Blueline buses. However,it is yet to materialize. The Delhi High court had also cautioned and slammed the Delhi governmnet over the issue.
