Everything is fair in Love, War and Politics: An emerging mantra

Yesterday after the pressure of voting was eased out; I decided to visit some quite yet comfortable place. It was there at the back of my head Oh! What a day in the history of Parliament….right in the well of the Lok Sabha, the MPs have stooped down to the extent of showing off the wades of notes purportedly given to them as a price to abstain from voting on the floor of the Lowe House. With these stifling and nauseating thoughts I walked into this Yellow Brick Road restaurant at Hotel Ambassador. When I popped in, the place was in fact dominated with journalists and there was this television screen on one of the walls in the restaurant, where electronic media coverage of the entire drama was on. But my though process had been washed off, probably for sometime I was just thinking as a citizen of this country and a journalist had gone under a shell…but just for a while.
The group of journalists sitting right next to me was hardly bothered about what had happened, or whether it was a disgraceful act or not…they all believed that it was just a part of politics. And everything is fair in Love, War and now in Politics. The main agenda on that desk was, what should be the main punch of their cover story, because electronic media had already covered everything and whatever was the left over would be taken care of by the newspapers next day, the magazines have to think always a step ahead and see what new can they bring forth. So, the entire debate was that whatever, disgraceful or not, has happened on the 'Black Tuesday' would become stale in another couple of days, so what new can they bring to the platter for the readers.

The act in Parliament would certainly go down as the most shameful incident in our democratic history. But at the end what was most important for many was the fact that UPA won the trust vote. And for once thanks to the nuke deal that the deal, at least, brought this fact in front of our eyes that our politicians have the capability (sic) to crouch to such levels. Can we say, we are proud of our democratic tradition, any longer?
